Standardized Test Results Show Improvement

Students performed a little better on Minnesota's Standardized Tests this year, but the list of struggling public schools is expected to worsen. The largest gain in the state was in 10th-Grade Reading, with a 9% increase in proficiency. Commissioner Alice Seagren of the Minnesota Department of Education says that although the state is making progress, it needs to do better. Test results are in the hands of the districts--but the public will have to wait until August to find out which schools will carry an "Underachiever" label und the federal "No Child Left Behind" law.
