Church Goers Leafleted in Pequot

Pequot Lakes Mayor Cathey Malecha objects to what she says was misleading literature placed on the windshields of Church-goers Sunday morning. Among other things, the leaflets claim she and three others running for the city council favor a sales tax for Pequot. Malecha says she traveled to St. Paul some time ago to investigate the possibility of a sales tax to pay for the Highway 371 improvements and was turned down. She says other discussions on the topic were only that.
The leaflet claims Pequot is the 5th highest taxed city in the county, and they don't want to be number one,
It was paid for by Businesses for a more friendly Pequot Lakes, and The Coalition of Concerned Citizens who earlier this year criticised the operations of the police department.
