Crow Wing Deer Harvest Predicted to be Low

The deer harvest will be down this year, according to Area Wildlife Supervisor Gary Drotts. He tells KLKS news, they have been working to reduce the deer herd because of complaints by farmers and gardeners. He says the plan has worked. Now, he says many of the hunting areas around Brainerd are lottery areas where antlerless permits are required. Drotts figures the deer herd is at a low point now. He anticipates 12-13 thousand deer to be harvested around Brainerd this season.
