Howes Says the Shortfall Could Get Worse

State Representative Larry Howes says the $5.2-Billion revenue shortfall might get worse, if the stock market continues to struggle. He tells KLKS News, it will be difficult to balance the budget for the next biennium, but he likes the Speaker's suggestion of approaching it with "Zero Based Budgeting." That is a process in which the budget process starts from scratch, and they fund only needed programs. Howes is also suggesting that financial experts from past administrations be engaged to offer a fix, rather than rely on lawmakers who don't possess those skills.
