Backus Man Charged With Damage To Trees

Cass County authorities arrested a Backus man Friday for damaging over 500 Red Pine trees that were sold at a public timber auction north of Backus.

51-year-old Stephen Louis was arrested when deputies executed a search warrant at his residence. Olson has been released on bail after being charged with Criminal Damage To Property in the First Degree.

Olson allegedly drove large nails into the trees on a tree plantation near Backus. The Cass County Sheriff's Office is continuing their investigation and additional charges may result.
