More Muskies May Be Coming to Brainerd Area

(AP) A few Brainerd area lakes may see the introduction of a Minnesota monster. The Department of Natural Resources is considering stocking muskies in Roosevelt, Upper South Long and Lower South Long Lake.

The DNR says it is in response to increased interest among anglers.

Signs will be posted at the lakes' public access, and hearings will be taken this summer and fall. If there is enough interest, the lakes will be stocked in 2011.

The muskie is among Minnesota's biggest game fish, know for a high level of ferocity.
