Crosby Tops Plainview-Elgin-Millville 58-41 in O/T

The Bulldogs of Plainview-Elgin-Millville were not able to gain a lead in last night's semi-final game, but did tie it twice--the first time with eight seconds to play in the second half that ultimately led to overtime. An unusual series of events allowed the Bulldogs to erase a five-point deficit and achieve the tie. Senior Clay Olstad made a three-pointer, then was fouled, and missed the free throw, but the Bulldogs retained possession with the reboun-and senior Michael Pick tied it with a layup. The second tie with the Rangers of Crosby-Ironton came in the extra period, but a decisive turnover soon thereafter that led to a good three-pointer by senior Brock Tesdahl turned out be the final margin in the 51-48 victory. The Bulldogs shot a percentage point better than the Rangers and had the leading scorer, Olstad, with 24 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Senior Mark Hoge and Tesdahl paced the Rangers with 19 and 11 points, respectively. Crosby-Ironton has been a runner-up four times at the tourneys, but never has won a championship. Another opportunity now presents itself when they face New-London Spicer for the Championship at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the T.
