Carlson Favors Teacher Freeze

The Republican controlled state legislature is moving forward with a pay freeze for teachers, as one way to help balance budgets across the state.

Conservatives have generally favored local control.  State Senator John Carlson of Bemidji tells KLKS News, he too favors local control, but this is different.  He says school districts have requested the state take the freeze action so they don't have to.

Minnesota faces a new biennium $6.2 billion out of balance.
