DNR Toughens Up Against Invasives

(AP)  The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources feels it has a plan to slow the spread of invasive species.

Minnesota lakes have been beleaguered by zebra mussels, fish killing-VHS virus, jumping Asian carp and others.

The plan includes additional conservation officers to inspect boats and other vehicles, increased fines for violations and increased education.

The plan will be presented to the legislature on Friday.
