Safe and Sober in C.W. Co.

Lawmen in Crow Wing County stopped over 250 vehicles and arrested at least eight persons for DWI, all part of the Safe and Sober campaign during the holidays.

At least two other persons were taken into custody. Reports show that other activity included at least four seat belt tickets and at least 14 other tickets and charges. Some of the other charges were for Driving After Suspension/Cancellation/Revocation; speeding; and zero tolerance. Several warnings were also issued for speeding, equipment and seat belt. There were also at least six vehicles towed related to non-custodial circumstances.

During the month of December, officers in the Brainerd Lakes area joined officers statewide and enforced the DWI laws and seat belt laws with main emphasis on weekends and nights as part of the December Mobilization.

Area departments who worked together during the December Mobilization enforcement project included State Patrol troopers, Crow Wing County deputies, and officers from the police departments of Brainerd, Baxter, Nisswa, Pequot Lakes, Deerwood, Cross Lake, Cuyuna; Emily, Crosby and Breezy Point.
