Suspects Disappear Into Beltrami Co. Woods

(AP)  Despite the use of some high-tech equipment, a pair of desperadoes escaped from the long arm of the law near Bemidji just before midnight Monday.

The State Patrol used a helicopter and thermal imaging to spot two suspects in the woods of Beltrami County.

Lawmen received a report of gunshots fired at a home in Turtle River.  Responding officers gave chase to a speeding vehicle.  Stops sticks force the car off the road, and two of three suspects high-tailed it into the woods.

An assault rifle and ammo were recovered from the vehicle along with one of the suspects.
