Powerful Winter Storm Zeroes in on the Lakes Area

A storm is heading toward the Brainerd Lakes area that may prove to be the most powerful, dangerous winter storm, not only for this year, but in recent years.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 6 p.m. tonight through 6 p.m. Wednesday.  KLKS meteorologist Tony Schumacher says it carries the potential of a foot to a foot and a half of wet heavy snow.

Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl suggests area residents ride-out the storm inside.  For those who must travel under such uncertain conditions, emergency supplies should be packed in the car including; a fully charged cell phone, extra blankets, high energy snacks and water and a good radio.
